The Cost of Departure

The Cost of Departure

“The man’s name was Elimelek, his wife’s name was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to Moab and lived there.” (Ruth 1:2)

Elimelek’s choice to leave Bethlehem was practical, but it distanced his family from God’s covenant land. Sometimes our decisions, though logical, move us away from God’s best. Yet God redeems even our wanderings. The cost of departure can be high. The journey to Moab shows that human wisdom is limited, but divine mercy is limitless. God can turn detours into testimonies of His grace. Even when we step outside His will, He can weave our story into His plan.

Prayer: Father, keep me near Your presence. Redeem my missteps and restore me to Your abundance. Help me discern Your will when choices seem unclear.
